At present, modified plastics have significant advantages such as low cost and high performance, and are second only to metals in terms of usage in automotive materials. "Replacing steel with plastic" has become one of the important ways for automotive lightweighting. Replacing metal materials with modified plastics for automotive components and load-bearing structures can significantly reduce the weight of workpieces. Modified plastics are intermediate products in the petrochemical industry chain, mainly processed from five general plastics and five engineering plastics as plastic matrices, with characteristics such as flame retardancy, impact resistance, high toughness, and ease of processing. Therefore, they are widely used in automotive parts. Common modified plastics include modified PP and modified PA, with modified PP accounting for 46% of modified plastics in domestic automobiles.
2) The trend of domestic substitution of automotive parts is obvious, promoting the development of domestic small and medium-sized enterprises
In recent years, the Chinese automotive industry has continuously strengthened its trend towards the localization of automotive components. This trend is mainly influenced by national policy support, cost advantages, and technological advancements.
Firstly, domestic automotive parts companies meet market demand by continuously improving their technological strength and production capacity. Compared with traditional automotive industry powerhouses, there is still a significant gap in the design, research and development, and production capabilities of China's automotive parts industry. However, in recent years, with the rapid development of the Chinese automotive market, domestic parts enterprises have increased their investment in technology research and development and innovation, continuously improving product quality and performance. At the same time, many domestic component companies have improved their production capacity and manufacturing level through cooperation with internationally renowned enterprises and the introduction of high-end equipment, gradually gaining recognition from numerous vehicle manufacturers.    
Secondly, localization can reduce costs and improve production efficiency. Traditionally, Chinese automobile companies have relied heavily on imported parts, resulting in relatively high production costs. However, by adopting domestic components, companies can effectively reduce procurement costs and at the same time reduce links in the supply chain, breaking import dependence. More importantly, localization can provide faster response and flexibility to meet changes in market demand.
