How to check hub bearings?

 

When the wheel bearing is seriously worn, the vehicle generally emits a sound like an airplane flying over at high speed. Once the driver hears this sound, he should drop the front and rear doors on both sides of the glass, and pay attention to identify which wheel the sound is coming from.

After the identification, it should be checked and excluded in time at the auto repair shop. To check whether the hub bearing has been damaged, you can prop up the suspected wheel, and then use both hands to make the wheel spin quickly. If the bearing is seriously worn or ablated, noise will be emitted during rotation;

If it has been burned, it will also emit a “hair jiao” “Qubang” sound. Check whether the hub bearing has been damaged, and can also be removed after the bearing. The method is: wash the removed bearing, gather the thumb, index finger and middle finger of the left hand, extend into the shaft hole of the bearing, and force the bearing to tighten, and then slap the bearing ring with the right hand, so that the bearing rotates rapidly, if the left hand three fingers feel serious vibration, there is noise when rotating, it can be determined that the bearing has been damaged, should be replaced.

(1) Preparation. When checking the tightness of hub bearings, first set up the axle of one end of the wheel of the inspected hub of the car, and guide the car to handle it safely with the support stool, cover wood and other tools.

(2) Inspection method. Turn the tested wheel several turns by hand to see if the rotation is smooth and if there is any abnormal noise. If the rotation is not smooth and there is friction sound, it indicates that the braking part is not normal; If there is no noise, the rotation is not smooth and tight and loose, indicating that the bearing part is abnormal. When the above abnormal phenomenon occurs, the wheel hub should be removed and inspected.

For small cars, when checking the hub bearings, hold the upper and lower sides of the tire with both hands, and move the tire back and forth with the hand, and repeat it many times.

If normal, there should be no feeling of relaxation and block; If the swing is obviously loose feeling, the wheel should be removed or sent to the factory for repair.For large vehicles, you can use a pry bar to move the tire and observe the looseness of the hub bearing. Turn the tire, the hub bearing should rotate freely, there is no blocking phenomenon. If it is found that it is loose or does not rotate freely, it should be decomposed to check and adjust.
